Jeff Ridgway finds his childhood masterpiece!

OW 1958-1962, Jeff Ridgway, enjoyed a tour around the school and was delighted to see the mural so well preserved!

We were delighted to welcome old Walhamptonian Jeff Ridgway and his family to school today.  Jeff was over from America, where he lives in Connecticut, for a family wedding near favourite school expedition venue, Mull. He then headed south-bound to visit family in the New Forest and stopped by the school whilst in the area.

Jeff was at Walhampton from 1958-1962 and has fond memories of candle-lit Christmas chapel services, boarding, being a scout and going on trips in the gypsy caravans.

He was thrilled to see that the large mural painting on the mosaic passage wall is still there. He was part of the team of boys who painted the large scene of life at the school in 1958 along with Mrs LeMay (who later married the headmaster at the time, John Bradfield).

If you would like to visit Walhampton, please contact Samantha Allen, Alumni Officer, on 01590 613 300, or email
