Walhampton is delighted to take part in The National Garden Scheme by opening it's gardens and grounds to the public on Sunday 12th May 2019. The National Garden Scheme is the most significant charitable funder of nursing charities in the country, donating over £50 million so far to The Queen’s Nursing Institute, Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Carers Trust, Hospice UK, Perennial, and Parkinson’s UK, amongst others.
Of Walhampton they write:
"Glorious walks through large C18 landscape garden surrounding magnificent mansion (not open). Visitors will discover three lakes, serpentine canal, climbable prospect mount, period former banana house and orangery, fascinating shell grotto, plantsman’s glade and Italian terrace by Peto (c1907), drives and colonnade by Mawson (c1914). Excedrae and sunken garden, rockery, Roman arch, and fountain. Seating, guided tours with garden history."
If you would like to come for a wander on Sunday 12th May 2019, the gardens will be open between 2.30pm - 5.30pm with guided tours by our Estate Manager and resident historian David Hill. A donation of £5 would be appreciated towards the NHS charities.
